The following three characters represent traits and characteristics that make up common digestive patterns. Most of us lean toward one (or a mix of them). As you read, notice which traits feel familiar — they offer a first look at how your own digestion may work.
Light, cold, quick, creative and full of ideas Socializers find it hard to focus and must stay busy and known for not being on time.
Socializers often have an erratic digestive nature. They get so involved in everything that they forget to eat, then grab whatever is easy - like popcorn, or eat on the run with an icy cold drink.
They tend to run cold and dry, talk a lot, and can become scattered or constipated due to over activity and skipping meals.
When they listen to their tummy and keep a steadier routine that includes not skipping meals, they feel better and their natural creativity and lively personality shine bright like a true creator.
Hot, focused, driven and controlling.
Leaders have a strong, fiery digestive nature where their hunger alarm bell goes off right at noon like clockwork and if they don’t eat immediately, they're irritable, and “hangry.” They love hot chili peppers even when their tummy burns and they sweat. Over-indulgence can create heartburn or gastritis. Leaders often react to milk, wheat, or peanuts (good to note in children). They tend to run hot and oily, love to make lists, control others, strive toward order and being on time. Leaders are known perfectionists except often, they define “perfect.”
When they listen to their tummy and ease up on the heat, their natural courage and clear leadership qualities shine as a respected leader.
Cool, steady, and comfort-loving.
Relaxers usually have a slow, sluggish digestive nature that's more like a damp, smoldering fire than a bright flame.
They love soft foods, sweets, and anything comforting (and yes, crispy snacks too). This personality loves desserts, especially that creamy custard-filled cream puff. They tend to run cool, dense, and oily, gain weight easily, and can hold onto things and emotions including food, longer than they’d like. You’ll often find them looking for the softest seat or carrying a pillow wherever they go.
When they listen to their tummy, exercise, and push themselves to keep things moving, their natural calm, compassion, and quiet strength shine and inspire others.
